Matt 19		Mark 10		Luke
1	Now when Jesus had finished these sayings,	1	And
	he went away from Galilee		<arising from> there
	and entered the region of Judea		<he comes> to the region of Judea
	beyond the Jordan;		and beyond the Jordan;
2	and large crowds followed him,		and crowds gathered to him again;
	and		and again, as his custom was,
	he healed them there.		he taught them.
3	And Pharisees came up to him	2	And Pharisees came up
	and tested him by asking,		and in order to test him asked,
	"Is it lawful to divorce one's wife		"Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?"
	for any cause?"
4	He answered,	3	He answered them,

		4	They said,
	[see Matt 19:8 below]		"Moses allowed* a man
	[see Matt 19:7 below]		to write a certificate of divorce,*
			and to put [her] away."*
		5	But Jesus said to them,
	[see Matt 19:8 below]		"For your hardness of heart*
			he wrote you* this commandment.
	"Have you not read that
	he who made them
	from the beginning	6	But from the beginning of creation,
	made them male and female.'		`[God] made them male and female.'
5	and said,
	`For this reason	7	`For this reason
	a man shall leave [his] father and mother		a man shall leave his father and mother
	and be joined to his wife,		and be joined to his wife,
	and the two shall become one flesh.'?	8	and the two shall become one flesh.'
6	So they are no longer two but one flesh.		So they are no longer two but one flesh.
	What therefore God has joined together,	9	What therefore God has joined together,
	let not man put asunder."		let not man put asunder."
7	They <say> to him,
	"Why then did Moses command* one		[see Mark 10:3 above]
	to give a certificate of divorce,*		[see Mark 10:4 above]
	and to put her away?"*
8	He <says> to them,
	"For your hardness of heart*		[see Mark 10:5 above]
	Moses allowed* you		[see Mark 10:4 above]
	to divorce your wives."
	but from the beginning it was not so.
