  ἐπιγνώσεσθε αὐτούς.     γινώσκεται·

  ἐπιγνώσεσθε αὐτούς.      

* Note: Matthew repeats this saying at the beginning & end of this cluster of sayings, Luke does not. Matthew also ascribes a more proverbial form of this botanical principle --
"
ἐκ γὰρ τοῦ καρποῦ τὸ δένδρον γινώσκεται" -- to Jesus in another context [Matt 12:33].  Ignatius, bishop of Antioch at the beginning of the 2nd c. CE, uses the same formula --
"
ἐκ τῶν  καρπῶν τὸ δένδρον γινώσκεται" [Ephes. 14:2] -- without identifying it as a saying of Jesus.
